On a Tube map, the distances look small. On the Monopoly board they’re even closer. But when I walked part of the route for #TeamHonk in London, organised around Monopoly board properties, I was beat. I came home and collapsed on the sofa while lots of the other bloggers were still pounding the pavement.
We started off in Vauxhall, at the offices of Comic Relief. The #TeamHonk and #Honkopoly fundraising effort is all in support of Sports Relief, and we were greeted by enthusiastic staffers who were very interested in bloggers, how we do what we do and how #TeamHonk came about. How wonderful it is to get involved with a charity as supportive and organised as Comic Relief.
We set off walking, handing out fliers, waving to passing motorists (who obligingly honked — woohoo) and making a big red spectacle of ourselves.
The day was very fun, but also serious: Sports Relief encourages people across the UK to get active and have fun to raise money for vital projects in the UK and abroad, fighting malaria and HIV, supporting education and mental health intiatives, and much much more.
At the end of the day the baton went on to its next step and has been winding it way on its journey to John O Groats. The best news: We’re close to raising our goal of £20,000 (!). Help push us over the top by contributing today!
