Take a seat, or maybe a desk or a vintage vase. In truth, you’ll want to take them all home from Midcentury Modern this Sunday, the best fair I’ve found to see, touch, and – frankly – oogle fabulous midcentury furnishings. All year long I look forward to the Midcentury Modern fair, where close to 100 vintage dealers sell absolutely gorgeous ’40s, ’50s, ’60s, even ’70s-era home furnishings.
Organisers Lucy and Petra started their business as a showhome – using Lucy’s Dulwich-based home as a showcase for fantastic vintage design. (I interviewed Lucy while at The Times, when the duo launched the child-oriented fair Kids Modern. You can now shop online at their Kids Modern site.)
Kids under 14 go free, everyone else pays £7 entry. Bring your baby sling (you’ll need to park your pushchair outside) and make a day of it – there is food and drink to buy. After all, it’s never too early to start learning one’s Earnest Race from Eames and Nelson from Noguchi.
