Later this month I’m honoured to be on a panel at the Battle of Ideas, speaking about Online Communities: cyber-village or anti-social network?
Organised by the Institute of Ideas, the Battle of Ideas is a fantastic weekend of discussion and debate on topics ranging from politics to food, society wars to sporting contests. I’ve been going for the past several years and there are always stimulating discussions, with the well-informed audience mucking in with well-chosen speakers (75 sessions, 350 speakers, 2250 attendees).
In advance of the festival weekend, there are also some great satellite events happening around London. If you’re interested in writing about parenting issues, one you won’t want to miss is Are our children oversexualised? with author Hephzibah Anderson (Chastened), agony aunt Irma Kurtz, Dr Jan Macvarish from the University of Kent, among others, chaired by Battle of Ideas coordinator David Bowden.
