From the moment we stepped inside the Athena Beach Hotel — wait, strike that. From the moment we arrived at Paphos airport in Cyprus and met the Olympic Holidays rep after collecting our bags, we knew we were in good hands. We were whisked to this gorgeous 4-star family-friendly hotel on the water in Paphos, handed cold drinks, offered any number of activities and diversions and fed until we could eat no more.
We visited Athena Beach Hotel as a guest of Olympic Holidays. The company books fabulous trips, tours, flights and excursions to Cyprus, Green, the Italian islands, the Canaries, Croatia, Egypt and more. This was our second trip to Cyprus as a family. I love how easy it is to get there, how manageable the airport is and the vast array of things to do, including historical sites, rugged countryside and relaxing poolside lounging.
I’ll be doing a hotel review and writing more about all the fab things we got up to on our visit. We took in not only Paphos beach and the city centre but also an outing to Troodos Mountains and even the mall (hey, we have a teenager. It was inevitable). Look for that soon.
Until then, I’ll whet your appetite with a peek at the hotel, the pools, the food and other things that provided fun and flair on our visit.
Our arrival
Can I tell you how great it is to walk in to the hotel after leaving drizzly England to this view?

Our room
We got to stay in 2 different rooms. Both were fabulous — one with an amazing view over the resort, one with its own terrace and plunge pool.

The food
We were on a dinner, bed and breakfast plan. We loved how flexible it was. You can choose from some of the restaurants for dinner, switch dinner for lunch if you’re going to be out in the evening or pay a supplement to eat in one of the upscale restaurants. My daughter especially loved the variety on the buffets and the menus.

Out and about
Olympic arranges excursions — we picked up the coach for ours right outside the hotel. The hotel also has a great location. You can follow the picturesque beachfront walk all the way into downtown Paphos to the amazing Paphos mosaics, the medieval castle and the lighthouse beach.

Oh this takes me back a few years to a holiday we had in Cyprus. We weren’t staying at the Athena Beach Hotel but I do love the look of this place – I’m feeling relaxed just looking at your photos. Heaven!
#citytripping
There’s a whole stretch of beachfront hotels — we had a nice long walk up and down the beach looking at them. We couldn’t help but feel we had the best of the lot!
It looks utterly beautiful, and a world away from this cold grey depressing country I currently find myself in!! 😀 Just one of those pictures would have made me want to visit to be honest! 😀 #citytripping
You had me at those beautiful blue skies along the coast! Would love to visit Cyprus one day! Those beaches look so enticing! #CityTripping
Do go. So easy to get to and so wonderful to relax there and explore.
I think we had lunch at Helios when we were in Paphos! I have a friend who got married at the Amathus (I think – have to check) a few years ago. I wasn’t able to stay for too long, but I was amazed at how calm and beautiful Cyprus was. We would lie next to the beach every morning and read… simple breeze, warm sun… gorgeous in place in November. Thanks for bringing back all those lovely memories! #citytripping
Sara, it is very beautiful and I think you’ve pinpointed something quite special: the simplicity of the pleasures there.
This looks great! The food looks delicious and the pool is fab. Never been to Cyprus but would love to go!
I love Cyprus – such a fantastic island, and Paphos is one of my favourite spots. This hotel definitely looks a find too, loving the lounging by the private pool shot especially. Thanks for linking up with #citytripping
Oh wow I am totally sold that plunge pool look just incredible x
Ah you’re making me want to visit! This hotel is a beaut and that water is giving me serious wanderlust especially now since the weather is being temperamental in Newcastle, UK haha. I have a few friends from Cyprus and they always show me pictures of their hometown. Definitely going to try and visit this year. That picture of Troodos Mountains is just breathtaking
They really are so beautiful and the people are so wonderful there. I look forward to hearing about your visit!
